In 2000, the company’s CEO Sameer Nair and programming chief Tarun Katial introduced a number of new shows, catapulting the channel to its current number one position.

Mr. Bean is a British comedy television programme series of 14 half-hour episodes written by and starring Rowan Atkinson as the title character. Different episodes were also written by Robin Driscoll, Richard Curtis and one by Ben Elton. The pilot episode was broadcast on ITV on 1 January 1990, with the last television episode, "Goodnight Mr. Bean" broadcast on 31 October 1995. The final episode, "Hair by Mr. Bean of London", was a video exclusive released on 15 November 1995, but not broadcast in the UK until 2006.

Based on a character originally developed by Atkinson while he was studying for his master's degree at Oxford University, the series follows the exploits of Mr. Bean, described by Atkinson as "a child in a grown man's body", in solving various problems presented by everyday tasks and often causing disruption in the process. Bean rarely speaks, and the largely physical humour of the series is derived from his interactions with other people and his unusual solutions to situations. The series was influenced by physical performers such as Jacques Tati and comic actors from silent films.

During its five-year run, the series gained large UK audience figures, including 18.74 million for the 1991 episode "The Trouble With Mr. Bean". The series has been the recipient of a number of international awards, including the Rose d'Or. The show has been sold in 245 territories worldwide, and has inspired an animated cartoon spin-off and two feature films.[

Tom and Jerry is a series of theatrical animated cartoon films created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, centering on a never-ending rivalry between a cat (Tom) and a mouse (Jerry) whose chases and battles often involved comic violence (despite sometimes they become allies to defeat a 'greater enemy' such as Spike the dog). Hanna and Barbera ultimately wrote and directed one hundred and fourteen Tom and Jerry shorts at the MGM cartoon studio in Hollywood between 1940 and 1957, when the animation unit was closed. The original series is notable for having won the Academy Award for Animated Short Film seven times, tying it with Walt Disney's Silly Symphonies as the theatrical animated series with the most Oscars. A longtime television staple, Tom and Jerry has a worldwide audience that consists of children, teenagers and adults, and has also been recognized as one of the most famous and longest-lived rivalries in American cinema. In 2000, TIME named the series one of the greatest television shows of all time.

Beginning in 1960, in addition to the original 114 H-B cartoons, MGM had new shorts produced by Rembrandt Films, led by Gene Deitch in Eastern Europe. Production of Tom and Jerry shorts returned to Hollywood under Chuck Jones's Sib-Tower 12 Productions in 1963; this series lasted until 1967, making it a total of 161 shorts. The cat and mouse stars later resurfaced in television cartoons produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions and Filmation Studios during the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s; a feature film, Tom and Jerry: The Movie, in 1992 (released domestically in 1993); and in 2001, their first made-for TV short, Tom and Jerry: The Mansion Cat for Boomerang. The most recent Tom and Jerry theatrical short. The Original version of the Tom and Jerry theme song was written by the Uncle Dave Macon AKA the Dixie Dewdrop southern banjo player and songwriter The Karate Guard (2005), was written and co-directed by Barbera.

Today, Time Warner (via its Turner Entertainment division) owns the rights to Tom and Jerry (with Warner Bros. handling distribution). Since the merger, Turner has produced the series Tom and Jerry Tales for The CW's Saturday morning "The CW4Kids" lineup, and a string of Tom and Jerry direct-to-video films — all in collaboration with Warner Bros. Animation.

Nicholas "Nick" Corbishley Owen  (born 1 November 1947) is an English television presenter and newsreader, best known for presenting the breakfast television programme TV-am and the BBC's local news show Midlands Today since 1997. He is also the current chairman of Luton Town Football Club.


Early life and education

Born in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, to father Bertie, a headmaster and Dunkirk veteran, and mother Esme (née Burton), a music teacher, he attended Kingsland Grange prep school, an independent boarding school in Shrewsbury, between the ages of 7-13, then Shrewsbury School between the ages of 13-18. While at Kingsland Grange, Owen borrowed a Cliff Richard record from Bob Warman, who later went on to become the longest serving regional news presenter on ATV and later Central in the Midlands. Owen completed his education at the University of Leeds where he obtained a BA (Hons) degree in Classics in 1969.
Early career

Owen's first job was as a graduate trainee on the Doncaster Evening Post. After two years Owen moved to a job at the Birmingham Post, where he covered local football, including the 1982 World Cup among other duties. He started working for the BBC's local radio station Radio Birmingham in 1973, as a news producer and later as Sports Editor. His first live broadcast was an early morning news bulletin during the Les Ross show.
Television career

He joined ATV in 1978. He later became a presenter at Central TV, teaming up with Anne Diamond. He went on to present Good Morning Britain on TV-am in 1983, co-presenting it with Anne Diamond until 1986. He hosted a TV game show "Hitman" in the late 80s. He then became a presenter for ITV Sport after leaving TV-am until 1993 presenting Midweek Sports Special and also presented ITV's coverage of Euro 88 and the 1990 World Cup as well as the game show Sporting Triangles. From 1992 to 1996 he co-presented Good Morning with Anne and Nick on BBC One.

He is currently the main presenter on Midlands Today, the BBC regional television news programme for the West Midlands. He is well known for his awful jokes and puns, usually connected to light hearted stories. In the fictional world of Alan Partridge, he is friends with the chat show host.
Personal life

Owen married Jill Lavery in 1977 in Birmingham. The couple had four children together: Andy, Tim, Chris (born November 1986) and Jenny (born September 1988) and lived together in Birmingham until August 2009, when it was reported in the News of the World newspaper, that Nick and Jill have separated after 32 years of marriage, with Nick moving out of the family home. The reason for the separation was given as the couple just drifting apart.
MySpace

On 17 October 2006, Midlands Today's science and environment correspondent David Gregory helped launch an official MySpace page for Owen in an attempt to make a mark on the world's largest blogging community. During that evening's bulletin when the page was featured, Owen's page received over 200 friend requests and a deluge of comments for the TV presenter. During the experiment, Owen received thousands of friend requests, emails and comments through the site, which closed in March 2007.[citation needed]

Luton Town

Nick Owen, a lifelong fan, became the Club Chairman when the Luton Town Football Club 2020 consortium purchased the club in 2008 following a period in administration. The club began the 2008/09 season with a thirty point deficit, and were consequently relegated from the Football League to the Conference National on 13 April 2009. However, Luton did win the Football League Trophy that year in front of 42,000 Luton fans at Wembley, despite being the lowest placed team in the competition for the whole season.

Awards

In 2006, he was awarded the Baird Medal by the Royal Television Society, Midlands, for lifelong achievement in television.

He was also named National Speaker of the Year 2010 by the Association of Speakers Clubs, following such figures as Peter Ustinov, Terry Waite, Betty Boothroyd and Esther Rantzen.

Nick also triumphed on Celebrity Weakest Link in 2004, winning money for his chosen charity, St. Mary's Hospice, Birmingham.

Cartoon Network India is a cable and satellite television channel created by Turner Broadcasting, a unit of Time Warner which primarily shows animated programming.


Cartoon Network started broadcast in India as the dual-channel TCM & Cartoon Network|TNT & Cartoon Network in 1995 with Cartoon Network initially operating from 5:30 a.m to 5:30 p.m, with Turner Classic Movies (formerly TNT) taking up the remainder of the daily schedule. Later the time slice of Cartoon Network was increased up to 9 p.m. On 1 July 2001, Cartoon Network India became a separate 24-hour channel which broadcasts in India, Nepal, Bhutan. Cartoon Network Pakistan was started in 2004 as a separate feed dedicated for Pakistani and Bangladeshi viewers. Programs broadcast on this feed are different from the Indian feed. It also has a translation in some areas. The channel was basically a relay version of Cartoon Network India in the start which is not the case now.[1]. Cartoon Network India is the only channel which aired the English dubbed version of Heidi in 2001. This show has not premiered on any other Cartoon Network channel worldwide.
1990's

The Channel first broadcast on 1 May 1995 as the dual-channel TCM & Cartoon Network|TNT & Cartoon Network, operating from 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (later 9:00 p.m.), with Turner Classic Movies (formerly TNT) taking the remainder of the daily schedule. On 1 July 2001, Cartoon Network India became a separate 24-hour channel, with exclusive local feeds for India, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka.

It originally aired only Hanna-Barbera cartoons such as Yogi Bear, Top Cat, The Flintstones etc. The channel quickly started to develop though, airing for the first time MGM cartoons (Tom and Jerry, Droopy, and Spike and Tyke) in 1996, and (after Time Warner's purchase of Turner in 1996) Warner Bros shows (Looney Tunes, and several other Looney Tunes related cartoons) in 1997. In 1998, Cartoon Network started to air its first original shows (Space Ghost Coast to Coast and The Moxy Show), however The Moxy Show was soon cancelled.

In 22 August 1999 the channel received a rebrand, introducing new bumpers, new shows and a new 'powerhouse' theme. The new shows for 1999 were Dexter's Laboratory, Cow & Chicken, I Am Weasel, Ed, Edd n' Eddy and Johnny Bravo. The following year, 2000, saw even more Cartoon Network originals being introduced, including The Powerpuff Girls, Mike, Lu & Og and Courage the Cowardly Dog. Some of these shows (Mike, Lu & Og, Ed, Edd n' Eddy and Courage the Cowardly Dog) were not produced by Cartoon Network.
2000's

In 2001, the rate of new Cartoon Network originals kept going, with Sheep in the Big City, Time Squad, and Samurai Jack being brought in. Due to the large number of Cartoon Network originals that were on Cartoon Network, they decided to name these shows Cartoon Cartoons, which led to the Friday night block Cartoon Cartoon Fridays being introduced to India later in 2001. In 2000, Cartoon Network India aired the English dubbed version of Heidi. This show has not made its debut on any other channel in English including Cartoon Network worldwide. Also in 2001, Cartoon Network introduced other programming blocks including Toonami, Acme Hour, Prime Time, Boomerang (now a channel as well) and Cartoon Network After Dark. 2002 saw more Cartoon Cartoons introduced including Grim & Evil, Robot Jones, and Codename: Kids Next Door. Grim & Evil eventually spun off into two separate series, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy and Evil Con Carne. Justice League and Mucha Lucha! also debuted on Cartoon Network in 2002. In 2003, there were no new Cartoon Network original shows added to the schedule, however there were several new programming blocks and non-Cartoon-Cartoons added. The programming blocks include Boomeraction (currently a block on the channel Boomerang), and Tiny TV (currently a block on POGO & Boomerang). Shows added to the line-up in 2003 include The Mask, and X-Men: Evolution. In 2004, the network introduced Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, the sole new program to debut that year. Programming blocks introduced in 2004 include Fridays and Eyeballs A Go-Go. Also, 2005 was the year that the Boomerang programming block was made into a TV channel which is not available in India.


In 2005, the bumpers were replaced with 3-D animations of the 'CN (Cartoon Network) City' that all the Cartoon Network toons lived in. Show-specific bumpers were replaced with 3-D animations of a well-known scene from the particular show (e.g.: a Dexter's Laboratory bumper would feature Dexter's house, a Powerpuff Girls bumper would feature most likely the PPG household, and so forth). The retro, checker board logo was replaced with the 'CN' city-style logo of today. In 2006, several new Cartoon Network originals premiered, including Robotboy, The Life and Times of Juniper Lee, Camp Lazlo, Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi, My Gym Partner's a Monkey and Squirrel Boy. The Cartoon Cartoons moniker previously used for Cartoon Network originals was also dropped in 2006.

On August 31, 2008, the format of Cartoon Network's bumpers and commercials changed and also they changed the name of Cartoon Network Theatre to Cartoon Network Popcorn, following the rest of the versions operated by Turner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific, with the major visual theme being the recurring 'dynamic line' in all the station IDs and bumps etc.


2010's

On 1 October 2011 at 6:00 AM IST (Indian Standard Time), during The Amazing World of Gumball premiere, Cartoon Network introduced its new branding and logo. Designed by Brand New School, it makes heavy use of a black and white checkerboard motif, as well as various CMYK color variations and patterns. The slogan It's a Fun Thing! was also introduced.

Movies OK is a hindi movie television channel broadcast in India. It is owned by Star TV and Fox International Channels. The channel was launched on 6 May 2012.It is Star's second hindi movie channel, the first being STAR Gold which was launched in 2000. It is also the second channel to be branded under the OK brand rather than the STAR brand after Life OK, a general entertainment channel which was launched in December 2011 to replace STAR One. Before the launch of Movies OK, STAR acquired Viacom 18's movie portfolio, paving the way for the launch of the new channel.By late October 2012, Movies OK will be available to viewers in Fiji.
